The weather is FINALLY getting better here in the northeast! (even though we did have a warmer than normal winter). My first baseball shots this season.

That mound looks rough. Horizon is off in the first, notice the people all tilted. For #2, that shot works better as a horizontal shot IMO and maybe with a bit different angle so you get more of the face. You have all this motion and power but it gets cut off in a vertical shot. #3 is OOF slightly and suffers from an unfortunate background. Keep it up and post some more. I love baseball.

Thanks for the comments Elrey, all taken. Funny what you don't see until its mentioned. Might be shooting another game this afternoon so I will post a few if so.

Thanks!

Hey Elrey, question for you: I had read a post by you in another forum that you shoot straight through a fence at times, and you focus such that you can't see the fence, correct? The reason I ask is that the above pictures were taken at spots that I could get at short of being behind the fence.

So as long as the subject is far away enough will the fence eventually fade out due to being so close? Sort of like when a lens gets scratched, it's so close to the image that it never shows up, if that's the right analogy...

Thanks...

It depends on the lens. If you have a 300, you can be 3 or 4 feet behind the net and it will pull focus through the net. With a 70-200 I'm usually right behind it.

Thanks! I will be renting a 300 f/4 for a AAA baseball game on the 25th, and will also be shooting some softball while I have that lens so I'll give it a shot.

The only bad thing is at the AAA game, even the first row of seats are 10-12 feet or so above the ground, so low angles are virtually impossible, short of having field access.
