Last night I shot a few pics in RAW just for the heck of it. They saved on my card fine then as soon as I inserted the card into the card reader nothing came up as if there wasn't anything saved onto the card, yet if I put the card back into the camera they were all still there. Anyone know what the problem may be?

Thanks,
Joe

What Raw program are you using?

I was going to use a raw converter in Photoshop CS2, but I can't even do that. I can't get the pics from my memory card to my computer. Lets say everytime I shoot in jpg I insert the card in the reader and all of my pics come up as thumbnails, I select them all and save them to a certain location. If I shoot RAW NOTHING comes up when I put the card in the reader. Like there's nothing on the card, but there is.

You can't open RAW files without a progarmme which recognizes the format.

This one is free and it's very good. Give it a go.

If you used to have a 10D/300D/earlier camera upgrade to the latest software.

Copy the files off the card using a card reader. Use the photoshop file browser or bridge to look at them. You might need the latest camera raw plugin from the adobe website, under support -> downloads.

I would've, but I didn't know if it may have been a problem with my card reader. And I can't copy them off my card via reader...that's the whole problem.

Check on the Adobe Web site. I found I needed to replace the DNG converter program with an updated one. You need the correct plug-in for your camera, and you may need to remove the packaged plug-in with a newer version from the Adobe website. I encountered the same problem, went to Adobe, followed directions (the really hard part ! ), removed the packaged plug-in, downloaded the newer version for my particular camera, placed it in the PS plug-in folder and .....Voila.

Good Luck

If you have a PC with WINDOWS XP put your card in the reader and then connect the reader to your PC.
Open WINDOWS Explorer and go to the driveletter that is automaticly be givin to you'r cardreader.
Now you can see what's on your card as you can see what's on your harddrive for example.
Now you can see all the files on your card. RAW and JPG and AVI if you have an P & S.
Just copy and paste the files to whatever location you desire. Or get an other cardreader.

Good luck.

If you want to use the File Browser in PS you need the DNG converter

Get a new card reader.

That's not true, I used CS1 file browser without the DNG convertor before I upgraded to CS2. CS2 bridge is MUCH MUCH nicer than CS1 for RAW.

See I've done all of that and still no dice. A friend of mine can shoot in raw, upload his pics from his camera to whatever folder he wants and open them up in PS and they open up properly. I try to do that and I can't. PS won't let me it says that the file type is wrong, so I used that other RAW program for adjustments, but I'd rather use PS for everything.

If you have CS2 install the latest ACR, open BRIDGE and direct it to the folder where your pictures are
copied and they will be loaded in BRIDGE. Now you can browse and select and evaluate your pictures.
DNG is a format in witch you can convert your pictures to, not something you need to open & browse RAW pictures.

Well I finally got it to work. I extracted the hell out of the camera raw plug in. I extracted it into CS2, bridge, etc. Thanks for all the advice everyone now I'm not so stressed out...haha.
