70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO OS HSM for Canon

Beach volleyball yes..indoor you are going to need a body with better ISO performance. I am using my 7d at 6400 all the time paired with a 17-55 2.8. Learn to shoot cross court with the 85 1.8 and you will be better off.

For shooting indoors in high school gyms, I use the 100 f/2. The 85 1.8 will work great also. Just depends on where you have access to shoot from. If the gym is well lit, the 70-200 f/2.8 will work at high ISO.

Like the reader above posted, most of the time I have to shoot at ISO 6400 at f/2.2 - 2.5.

In my gym I use my 70-200 f/2.8L IS II USM at ISO 3200, SS 400, and f/2.8 on my 5D3. I usually shoot JPEG too since I don't want all my memory taken up by sports.

Upgrade the body along the way, maybe a second hand 7D? The 450D is noisy pass iso800 and if this is indoor volleyball, the body will drag the lens down for sure.

I'd imagine most of your shots will either be blurred or noisy as hell.
