I can't say, my About says 3.11.26 -- maybe contact Canon?

Hi I just downloaded DPP 3.11.26 As the software that came with my 5D Mark III would not read raw files so it was suggested on the forum to update and it says the update was successful but when I go to the about on DPP it says I still have 3.11.10 I dont know why what am I doing wrong any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank You

Was the original DPP install from disk closed when you updated?

After all these years, Canon has yet to put in a simple UPDATE in its DPP Menu.
Even better to carry out periodical update checks. This is now industry norm and yet Canon still requires EOS owners to hunt down sites and links. Esp for newbies.

Not even a link to Canon HQ from its "ABOUT" dialog in DPP.

Part of the reason might be - I'm not sure - that Canon might prefer you to also consider other updates newly available, as well as DPP. On the Canon website they have arranged things so that you select your camera and OS and you see all the latest software that applies to your camera and OS.

Wouldn't make sense unless they fixed their crappy installer that insists on logging in as Admin and rebooting after install :p

I don't recall ever having to reboot after installing a DPP update (but I might have blocked that out!:)).

I am mighty pleasantly surprised by the really nice results from the latest DPP!:D I have a range of RAW converter-editing apps, including the latest Lr, Capture1Pro, DxO
Elite... I have climbed the learning curves of these, and Ps, over the last five years, and they are all brilliant and full of potential. But to my great surprise and Canon's credit I find that with the latest DPP I can get better, and far quicker, results in the basic image editing settings than with any of the others. Skin tone and NR are two cases in point. Skin tone adjustments would be the premier source of heartache, heartbreak, headache and headbreak in editing, yet I have been amazed to find that with a 1 point adjustment of color tone I can get it right! As for NR, recently with long exposure shots at ISO1600 in very low light DPP NR cleaned them up very effectively and aesthically, with imperceptible loss of detail - and I am comparing to apps such as Lr, Cap1 and Imagenomics Portraiture.

Yes, the DPP tools *look* primitive, but the results are anything but. Of course you have to leave DPP for deeper editing, but it's my impression that most people spend most time on most photographs doing basic adjustments. DPP makes that a breeze and the results are better than with anything else I know.

Newer bodies increasingly use in-camera software to achieve higher performance, higher quality output - things have gone well past hardware improvements alone. So by using DPP we are given those latest in-camera software advances to achieve a significant amount of what the latest bodies in the market offer, without buying new hardware.
