New to birds

The guys over in the 60D thread suggested posting this over here for a positive ID. I'm new to birds, but starting to think since I'm by one of the largest migratory areas in the U.S. I'll be learning and posting up more.

If you're going to photograph birds then you've come to the right sub-section Dr. D....and Welcome!
Looks to me like you've got a Red-winged Blackbird being overflown by a Cattle Egret in breeding plumage. Lovely image with the habitat and reflections.
We'll be looking for more!

Nice shot--if you are new to birds, you are already well on your way. Would love to see this as a landscape crop with just a bit of space for the egret to "fly into," but it's very sharp and the focus is spot on for a bird in flight--nicely done.

I think that's a very good habitat shot with super detail on the Egret. Welcome to the bird section and yes, do post more

Very well captured there! And I concur with Steve; Cattle Egret flying over the Red-winged Blackbird.
