I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina and I'm a new happy canon user.

Yesterday, I received my new Tamron 17-50 F2.8 non-VC from a seller in Korea. I was really happy with my new toy.. but when I opened the box I was shocked! Outside The box said "for Canon", inside there is a lens for Nikon... :(

Has this happened to anyone?

Well that stinks.....there's probably a Nikon guy somewhere wondering why he received a Canon lens.

LOL!
But seriously, yeah, that sucks. Never had a problem but then again, I've gotten all my Tamrons from Amazon or B&H.

How did you buy this? eBay?

Well thats unfortunate, but its not really too big a problem, is it? Just exchange it.
I can see how you'd feel though, I'd be pretty disappointed if I'd been waiting for a lens and when it finally arrived, it didn't fit on my camera.

I had a similar experience with a Tokina 12-24f4. I ordered a Canon and a Nikon mount lens was in the box. I sent it back to the seller, and online retailer, and they promptly sent the correct lens that I had ordered.

Thanks for share your experience!

I bought it on ebay. I notified the seller about this issue and he said me "I'm so sorry, this is a Tamron problem. We can't help you!". LOL (I prefer laughing to mourn!) :D

Exchange it is not an easy option because here in Argentina the customs always taxed beyond the type of shipment (gift, replacement, etc.).

I already pay my taxes for this lens (190 american dollars). If I receive another I'll have to pay again.

Thanks again! I thought it was the only one in the world that he had passed this!

(Sorry for my english)

Well, I'll try to sell this lens and then I'll buy it again from another seller... I think it is the best choice.

Seller didn't give you what you asked for - I would fight this!

Having the wrong lens in the box would be just like getting. Rock in the box...

The seller said that the problem was "Tamron" and you still want to buy from this seller again?

I would buy from a reputable dealer, like B&H or Adorama

Saludos!

First of all IF it's a Tamron problem try talking to them .. they may exchange it for you especially if you tell them one of their authorized resellers won't help.
Secondly, if you pay custom tax on an item that has to be returned there should be a process for you to get a refund back from Customs (there is here in Canada). You just have to prove it was either returned to the seller or is being exchanged by the manufacturer.

Ebay? File a paypal claim. Say that the item is not as describe. Paypal should refund you.
