A guy offered to sell me this lens for 300 dollars. I am really in desperate need of a 70-200 2.8 and I was wondering if this is a good deal or not.

OTOH, if is really a 2.8 and resoanbly sharp, 300 is a great deal. Dante

Quantaray is a store brand name for Ritz Camera (and other store chains) that is applied to all sorts of things by all sorts of photographic equipment manufacturers. I have seen that a particular item may be replaced by another with the same basic specs without telling the public. A lens, for example, has specs for its focal length (or focal length range) and maximum aperture (or range) and maybe the minimum aperture. Any lens meeting those specs might be sold as the same thing at different times. Skip Douglas

Can't remember anything about this particular lens, though it would be a bargain if you could get the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens at Quantaray prices.

I talked to the guy a little bit ago and he said he is going to let me try it out or a couple of days and if I dont like it he said I dont have to buy it. I will post on here tomorrow what happens. Jameson
