There are many pilot-controlled airports all around Atlanta.

I think they just had an airshow in the vicinity a couple weeks ago. "Thunder In The Valley" ?

Robins AFB is relatively close (100 +- miles) and has an airshow on 4/28/12 - and has a museum. Also Peachtree Airport is close to Atlanta and has an airshow on 5/12/12. Dobbins ARB is in nearby Marietta - C-130 Reserve unit last I heard. Ever stationed in Germany?

Lockheed shares the runway with Dobbins (C-130s) in Marietta. F-22, C-130J are assembled and flight checked there. Occasional C-5 and C-17 there. Dekalb-Peachtree has many wealthy occupants on the private/corporate side too.
