If you have Layer Masks &/or Adjustment layers, you can hold the blacks & bring the light areas down. It's really simpler than it looks. My favorite is the 1st one- it does seem a touch overexposed (granted I'm on my none-calibrated monitor at work again) but I like the contrast. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it.
