And I might add that I've decided to keep both my 7D(crop) and my 5D3 (FF).. I am sure that there is a lot of people like me out there- deciding to have one of each. Each format has their benefits- it's worth it to keep both.. My point here is that also means that glass I get specifically for my 7D- well, I'll keep it as I will be keeping it around.

If I did studio portrait work, I would highly consider the 24-70. For all other portrait work and general shooting, the 24-105 would be my choice.

I'll 2nd this, for general shooting the 24-105 is hard to beat.

24-105. You'll never take it off.

Yes you will once you start using primes bw!

I believe that only the 17-55 and the 24-70 are f2.8. For me at least, this is a major criterion for the tele side of the zoom. Other than portraits, I don't care for primes (for now any way ;)..)

Well I would use primes, If I had the budget for the primes I like (85mm 1.2l and 50 1.2l and 135 f2 l), but I find it that 24-105 f4 and 70-200 2.8 cover my entire shooting range and I don't have to switch lenses nearly as much.

I would find primes useful only if I had another FF body to work with.

Sigma 30 1.4 is good prime for 7d.

I was looking at the Sigma 30 1.4 seems alot of people have reported focus issues here with them. Some of the images posted with a good copy are very nice, should I run the risk and hope for a good one?

I've also heard of problems with pocket wizards and 580 ex II's. If you are close and inside- you can often use just the wireless built-in flash commander of the 7D. Otherwise, you might want to look at some Photox Odins or the Pixel Kings..

I think the Photox Odins are the way I'm going to go, seems 90% of the reviews I've seen for them have been very positive :)

I wouldnt put to much thought into the vocal minority. The sigma 30 1.4 is a killer lens for my 7d and tack sharp.

If you dont need the speed or mind reselling when you go ff, i say get the 15-85 as well. For general walk around, i think 24 isnt wide enough for all purpose.
