I will be soon shooting a fairly large number of video clips with my new 300HS. Should I set the camera on HD, even though my TV set, (for the time being), is an older rear projection model?

Also, I intend to "join" all these little clips together, add some transitions, possibly mix in some stills, and add a bit of basic titling.....then burn to DVD. Can someone recommend appropriate software, to help accomplish this?

I'm running a PC, with XP.....and not a computer guru.

Thanks in advance, del Sol

I don't have one of these cameras but I like to record everything in the best quality possible, even for casual shooting, just in case! I shoot RAW photos and 1080p video. I think most would agree.

is there reason not to film in HD? As Allan said, use the highest quality as possible. Also do you not plan to upgrade to a newer HD TV in the future? I do see a few problems with what you are bringing up. First, DVDs do not support HD resolutions. However you can still film in HD and downgrade on your computer. 2nd problem is your computer. Not sure how old your computer is, but it might have trouble handling HD video if you have a computer from the XP era. Windows movie maker is fine, newer editing software for HD video will require a much faster multicore computer.

what you can do is record some HD videos and test it on your computer to see how it performs.
