I was just on the B&H website looking for a few things and saw that Westcott has released (site says New Item) 40-degree grids for the various Apollo products; B&H has them available for pre-order now.

40-degree grid for Apollo orb (external link)

40-degree grid for Apollo strip (external link)

... just thought I would share my finding(s) :)

These weren't available until now? Seems odd... would have thought grids would have been out when it was released.

This seems relevant here, thought I would also share it...

I never realized why grids were so expensive either (a patent):

I was on the fence, but that's just too expensive. I ordered a knock off version from photo gadget - took a while to arrive, but the price was right. I'm still waiting for a chance to try it out though.

You get what you pay for. Apollo is very reasonable and are great tools. Also if the grids are "Light Tools" like the rest of the ones from Westcott, those grids are Ultra cheap! I like to buy stuff one time. Grids are usually hundreds of dollars. I preordered one of each. When hey arrive I will post a little review.

Considering I'm not a working pro, and the Orb doesn't get used *that* much - and the grid even less, it's not likely to be detrimental to my photography if I'm using a $30 grid over a $70 dollar grid :) If it breaks after only a dozen uses, I'm still likely to be several months in.
