One shot from 1D3 with 100-400 L IS lens, the other shot frm 5D3 with 135 mm f/2L. Both shot from the same spot on the track and within minutes of each other. Happened on several shots taken from this position.

Anybody know what cause those vertical stripes? I suspect it is the sun. This only happened at that spot. Lens hoods on but no filters on.

#1 5D3 plus 135 mm f/2.0L. Tv mode. 1/125s, f10, ISO 100

You sure it wasn't some sort of trackside object? That's what it looks like to me.

lamp posts?
Looking at the top image a bit close I think I can see a wire hanging between then, but defiantly seems to be some sort of post

light leak issue? ;) :p :p

Tommy, are you sure they are not posts (lamp posts, flagpoles) which show as bands due to panning?

bannedPermanent ban

It makes no sense. The bar is behind the car though. Is not even on the car.

Yes I am 100% sure it is not objects on the track in the position where that appear in these photos.

Looks like some kind of double exposure going on there. I'm seeing alot more than just those stripes that shouldn't be there.

Considering they are blurred the same amount as anything else in roughly the same plane, and the farther ones are blurred across more an area than the closer ones, they have to be physical objects in the scene.

I can assure you there are NO physical objects at the spots where those stripes appear.

Look at the upper rear of the car in the second picture. There is a section of blurred fence. That should not be there!

Yeah, I'm sure no race track would put lamp posts in a location like that... trackside and a short distance off the pavement in the runoff area.

It's really baffling... In the top shot there are one or two more farther in the distance, just in front of that tower (or whatever it is).

Especially baffling for it to show up in shots from two different cameras.

Best guess... a reflection of some sort?

Another thought... some sort of radio interference with the camera sensor or A/D converter?
