Need a 500mm F4 Bag....

I have a Tenba Bag right now, It holds everything I have minus my 500mm F4. I am tired of carrying the 500mm with the suitcase that comes with it. Just want something for the lens itself, maybe a camera attached? What do you guys think?

I use the Lowepro Lens Trekker 600AW, takes my 500 f4 with 1D IV fitted to it comfortably.

I use a Think Tank Glass Taxi, with a 'Chimp Cage' attached if I want to carry a body.

Depends on your application & operating environment…

For protection and extra storage-
A bit bulky, but superbly protects the equipment, is:

(I use for 1DmkIII with mounted 500f4L+ TC2x mkIII), then attached to its outside I have a Lowepro PRO 75 TOPLOADER AW (for 5DmkII with mounted 70-200f2.8L IS USM)
That provides me with ready to shoot equipment. The Lens Trekker 600II AW, also holds my spare TC2x mkII and TC1.4x mkII, camera/lens rain covers, gloves, water bottle etc.

For flexibility/less bulky, (yet still with good protection)-
Think Tank GLASS TAXI, as has already been suggested.

Good luck - anything beats the unfriendly OEM case.

Tamrac 5793

Although the Tamrac 5793 is advertised as being capable of transporting a 600mm with a pro body attached, I can stuff an EF800 5.6L IS with a 1D4 attached to it. It's a tight squeeze, but it can be zipped if everything's clocked properly.

It has thick closed-cell foam padding for protection similar to the Kinesis system. The interior is lined with velcro. This allows you to move the padded lens collar/divider to accomodate any super-tele focal length.

In my opinion, the 5793 lens pack is the best solution for a super-tele/body/tripod scenario when you're away from the pavement.

I just bought the Gura Gear Kiboko 22L, and I'm loving it. http://www.guragear.co​m/kiboko-22l/ It's expensive but it really is the most comfortable backpack I've ever owned, and it will carry the 500 f/4 no problem - plus all your other gear. Take a look.

The Kiboko 22L is really nice but, when carrying that big of a lens, plus tripod/gimble/camera (28#'s total), all of my other gear is out of the question for me.

I like how the Tamrac centers the tripod instead of it being on one side or the other. I read where having it centered means you will always have to remove it if wanting to shoot anything. If I'm carrying a 400 L 2.8 around, one can bet that if I take a shot, it will be with that beast.

It looks to me like there is room for some "custom foam space" if one would want to carry a few different (landscape) lens in addition?
