This 1 room school house is located about 20-25 miles SSE of Sidney, Montana just over the MT/ND state border. My dad (b. 1919) and his brothers attended elementary school there.

It's really an old school. Even better, especially when you're dad went there.
Amazing!

Ahhh I see. When I noticed you're from SJ I thought it was taken up in the mission hills or near Mt Hamilton :p

Why's it so lonely though? I'm sure there were houses around it before?

No. It was pretty rural in that part of the state - still is. I, being a"city boy" was amazed at the wide openness and stark beauty of the countryside - there was plenty of great subject-matter to photograph. My grandfather homesteaded there on 120 acres - his brothers had adjoining homesteads as well.

I'm definitely a "city boy" as well and whenever I visit the plains for the first time I'm sure I'll be amazed by the wide open spaces as well :p
