LOL, awesome vid.

To the OP, if you're just beginning and you have the money, there's nothing wrong getting the 5D mark ii or 7D. Just make sure you practice, practice, and practice before you decide to throw yourself as a professional. Good luck.

A) Don't do weddings.

B) Buy a film camera and learn the basics... or at the very least, buy a Rebel series body.

The reason I say film is that you don't get the instant gratification and endless amounts of shots with no consequence...

I think that if people are paying for film and developing, their skill will either improve much faster as the expenses increase, or they will get tired of the time and money spent and give up.... which would cut down on the amount of Craigslist/Facebook photographers charging for horrible pictures.

I gotta disagree strongly on this one. I had film years back- and the problem was - it's too slow- OK- no instant gratification- but film will slow down the process- greatly. The best thing I ever did was years back when I bought a digital to help me learn (circa 1998 or 1999). OK - if you were going thru a roll of film or two every day- I could see film helping to an extent- it's kind of like reading a book, then taking a test, and sending it off to be graded.. How does that make it better ?

I guess if you wanted to update your methodologies, suggest that they get a 1G or 2G card, fill it up with garbage files so you have 36 shots left on the card.. Don't cheat- and don't keep a spare around. That'd be a better implementation and more realistic! I mean, would you not want to train with the tools that you will ultimately use later ? Or would you prefer to train with a simulator?

As far as the body- try them out, and find what you are comfortable with- whether it be a 7D, 5D series, or a Rebel.

As far as the comment about most ending up with FF, where do you get this ? I would guess that the number of Rebels out there is much much greater than the number of non-rebel bodies- just looking at Canon, mind you. I know a lot of people with DSLR's- most are Rebel owners; none that I know of, other than me, own a FF.

Yes I am beginner----- And want to develope my skills and some people around me see that I have a talent.

It's been my experience that "talent" with the camera comes from a lot of practice, patience, and persistance.

For weddings and people in general the 5D series of cameras is a much better choice than the 7D.

Yep, the script writer goofed. However, showing my age, remember ASA well.

If knew back then what I know now, always start with full frame.

Certainly agreed! Besides, as sensor and processing chip technology become more reasonably priced, cropped frame is probably destined to be a thing of the past in DSLR's.

You could use the same argument to say DSLR's may become a thing of the past. ???

Good point. I see Micro 4/3 format carving more of a niche, but think pro-level full-frame will be around for a while.

Ditto! Have an Oly E-P2, loving it so much for a carry-around, have ordered a OM-D EM-5. However, not going to bail out of a full-sized DSLR quite yet, if ever.

Naw, I think Judge Joe is just an older guy who was into photography for a long time, thats all. I sent my Dad some black and white prints that I took of my kids. He asked me what brand black and white film I used because the shadow detail was so good. I laughed and told him I did it in photoshop; then he realized what he said and laughed too. My Dad got into photography back in the 1960s, sometimes old habits and thinking is hard to break. ;)
