Quick question regarding the Pocket Wizard system, since they've a few items on the market with varying features and functions I'm wondering.

If I get the MiniTT1 which supports both highspeed sync and also firing the flash in normal mode at shutter speeds faster than the typical sync speed limit of a flash; can I then use that as the trigger with any other PW receiver to retain those features?

From what I can tell I should be able to use the MiniTT1 with either PWPlus II or Plus III and still have that feature available to me when the TT1 is on the camera.

In addition if I wanted the auto metering functionality would that work with the PWPlus series or does that only work with the TT1 and FlexTT5 combo?

At present I'm a little torn on choices as the Plus system, outside of the highspeed sync and auto metering modes, appears to offer the greater range in control and options for using multiple flash units. The only downside being that the units connect via PC cord and not via hot-shoe (thus with one on the camera I lose the hotshoe).

Tools of the trade: Canon 400D, Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L M2, Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 OS, Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro, Tamron 24-70mm f2.4, Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6, Raynox DCR 250, loads of teleconverters and a flashy thingy too

You'll need to use the Mini with Flex units to take advantage of features unique to the Mini/Flex system. Plus transceivers are "dumb" and can only fire flashes in manual mode up to the camera's max sync speed.

You lose TTL, but you can actually get improved xsync (full power flash [not HSS] at 1/400" instead of 250") with using the TT1/TT5 as a trigger for standard PW Plus II's...

There are better threads, but this is the first one I found...

"i have a FlexTT5 on camera and Plus II on the remote flashes. wth this setup i can take advantage of HyperSync and sync upto 1/400 instead of my x-sync of 1/250 for the 30D."

With Mini on camera, youc an fire your strobes at much higher than max sync speed even when using old Plus IIs on rx side. I did 1/500 all the time with my 1dmk2. On my 5d, not much even 1/250 is barely doable but that is 5d problem.
