I guess I should have clarified....what is out there in the same price range, I don't live anywhere near a large camera store so everyone on his forum has helped me along my journey of buying gear.

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".

I'm not sure what you mean. Feisol, for example, is sold mainly on the web and you can't see it in the store anyway. Of course, you have to take the word of people who have the tripod.

no..i was referring to the two people who commented when I said the RRS tripods were out of my price range.

I actually have read your review a couple times. It is very detailed and highly appreciated. Do you still use the RRS quick release?

No, the RRS's smallest lever QR does not fit the top of the Markins Q3t, an issue with the bolt. I'm using the Markins QR without a problem so far.

The RRS standard size QR which as I remember is the 60mm will fit, but it's too wide and the legs won't close tightly to it when inverted.

Then why ask if something is the best out there? The best out there often requires top price.

Not necessarily, although the marketing guys would certainly agree with you! ;)

Define best. I had it and returned it for a Benro c2680t. I'm much happier with the Benro. https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1111203

I reviewed the Benro C2680T almost a year ago after using it for about ten months. You can read the details here. If your height is <=5ft 10ins this is a great value tripod that in some ways exceeds the Gitzo 1541/2. I've used mine now for over a one & a half years and it's still working just fine. It got a bit banged around at the Boston Marathon yesterday but survived that too. It's just a really sturdy tripod and proof that you don't have to spend top dollar to get quality.

Please take a look at the Feisol 3441T(tall) or 3441S (standard). These are extremely well made and about $250 less than the Gitzo. I think they are more stable travel platforms than the Gitzo.

THe difference between the two Feisols is simply how tall they will extend without raising the center column.

I've been reading all the Feisol threads on this forum to do purchasing research... I went back as far as 3 years, and it's simply hilarious to read this post when yesterday I read dozens of threads with you defending Gitzo and crapping on Feisol at every opportunity

Well, to be fair (and I know nothing about Feisol stuff) but a brand's quality can really change a ton in a few years. lol
