iPhoto is the perfect low cost Mac solution. It's very big brother "Aperture" looks awesome but it ain't $50!!

That's the largest show-stopper on the iPhoto...otherwise yes, iPhoto is good.

Didn't see this till now.

Batch changes are easy in iPhoto 5 (as well as handling RAW as previously mentioned).

1. Select the images you want to change
2. Go to the "Photo" menu and select "Batch Change..."

you can batch change various photo properties.

If you need something more sophisticated on OS X Tiger you can use Automator to make more sophisticated changes.

If you don't have iPhoto 5 and are interesed in upgrading you may want to wait until after Jan 10 when it is likely that Apple will announce iLife 06 that will include iPhoto 6.
