Hi, would a 60MB/sec CF card be good enough or do I need 90MB/sec to get max burst? Thanks for the inputs

60mbs is definitely MORE than enough. You can get away with a 15mbs

I'm not certain, but I think 60 would do fine for pics. It's video where you run into probs, I think.

I just bought four 90mbs 32gig cards (two CF, 2 SD) to be safe.

I use 60mb/s cards and perfectly fine. 30mb/s would be as well, don't pay the big $$$ for little to no difference with the 90+ mb/s cards. Even with video 30mb/s has not been a problem at all.

For Raw files they are about 30MB each so if your shooting in burst mode that is approximately 180MB per second of data coming off the sensor. For video I believe its data rate is at 90Mbps which is slightly less than 12MB/sec. If you dont mind waiting for the buffer to offload the data to the card you can get any card. Another great thing about a fast card is offloading the images onto your computer. It takes no time at all for a 400x card to offload over USB 3.0

From Rob Galbraith's site it appears that the 5D3 supports 1000x speed cards so as fast as you are willing to buy.

60mb/s cards are fine for video. You can even use 30mb/s for pics.
For now, 90mb/s cards are overrated due to its price.

When i had 7d about 2 years ago, i used the Sandisk 32GB 60mb/s.
Took 1000s of pics and hours of video at 720p
No issues at all !

Currently I have Trasnscend 400X Read 60 MByte/s, Write 30 MByte/s.

If and when i get 5D3, i plan to use this card.
