Found this guy at Ormond wetlands, I had to crop out his rear end because there was brush in the way.

Great shots of that elegant and gracile heron. On the second image she looks so much bigger than in reality.

Great shot Paul, mine didn't have that degree of coloration on the neck. Are these cropped (besides the bush)?

Thanks Dennis, yes they are cropped a bit. It's the only mature little blue I've seen, I've seen immatures in Costa Rica, those are almost all white.

Dennis perhaps I had better light to get those neck colors to stand out. I shot it on Wed., it was a cloudless day here in Oxnard.

Very nice, Paul, especially the flight shot. Those are tough birds to nail in flight. The neck color varies from bird to bird, the experts can probably explain why.

I really like the flight shot. It might be flying away, but its banked just enough to see the face...very nice.
