The monopod is very nice, unlike the ballhead which is rubbish, its saving grace is that it cost me nothing! Richard

I use one with 1dmk2 and 500mm f4 and 300mm f2.8 is. 100-400L is much lighter. Now if you want to act cool then there is always CF mopnopods but unlike triopds where I will go Gitzo CF ones, CF monopods don't save any weight over simple metal ones. And metal ones last for ever.
