Here are a couple from the Wichita Mountains NWR in sw Oklahoma. This place is special and it's our little secret in Oklahoma. It's a native mixed grass prairie that has never been plowed surrounded by low desert mountains of very colorful granite. Really worth a trip.

The first is from the top of Mt. Scott. The second is Post Oak creek with Elk Mountain in the back. Enjoy. Comments welcome.

I see what you mean, these are beautiful. I like the color of #1, but me and rocks, well were kind of friends, so #2 it is for me.

just a few of my thoughts...

I really enjoyed my last trip there and want to go back. Our trip found lots and lots of barren land, from a recent fire. Is there still much fire damage?

Love your first shot by the way. The view on top of the mountain is awesome. It was raining cats and dogs when I was up there. Shot a time-lapse of a thunderstorm coming through, but it didn't turn out very well.

I'm anxious to go back, since it's not very far from me.

No, I was down there in November and I didn't see too much fire damage.

The town of Medicine Park is pretty nice as well.

Good captures BTW

Well you'll probably like this one. It's from almost the same spot as the first but facing the other direction. Post Oak Lake.

This spring the land has lots of new growth from last summer's fires. Nice black soil and fresh green shoots coming up. I've never seen it look quite like it does now.

These are very nice, well done. I'll be driving through OK at least once this summer, perhaps twice. Hopefully, I'll have time to detour over to this area.

It's about 1.5 hours SW of OKC on the HE Bailey turnpike. It's pretty cool to see the mountains come up on the horizon. Plus the view from Mt. Scott is nice as well.
