Impact heavy duty stands, They're air cushioned too which is amazing. On b&h they're about ~$45 for a 8' stand.

Should i go with air cushioned Impact, Claument or Manfrotto stand or should I buy a C stand as mentioned earlier in this post. I have no plans taking these out but just want to use them at home for family portraits etc.

Thanks, Pendu

For simple use even impact 9.5 heavy duty stand for $40 (B&H) would work.

I have 4 of these. Hard to beat for the price...

Used the PBLs this weekend for a studio shoot. Very stable and the locks are very easy to use. I will probably end up with more as I grow.

I noticed PBLs are spring cushioned. Is there an advantage/disadvantage to spring v. air?

Just treat them as if they aren't cushioned at all. They help save your gear if you mess up is all....but there is only a cushion effect at the bottom.

I have one spring and 4 air. If you are getting a cushioned one, air is better.
