Yeah, I don't need charts and tables to figure this out.
I've been shooting Canon for 20 years. When I started, the system seemed expensive but doable. Now, it seems absurd, especially the prices for the long lenses, which are the ones that count for me.
Make that insane.
The trouble is that prices have gotten so ridiculous that even the well-heeled DSLR holdouts have to start checking their sanity when they hand over the kind of dough that Canon is asking for the latest stuff.
.
But the OP's entire point, which he proved with charts and tables, is that Canon lenses aren't any more expensive than they were many years ago. . Canon EF mount lenses are basically the same price they were decades ago, when you adjust for inflation.
That being a fact, it seems very strange that you thought these lenses were "expensive but doable" years ago, but consider them to be "absurd" and "insane" now. . It seems that somehow you have allowed personal bias or "feelings" to somehow affect your viewpoint, instead of basing your views and opinions on cold hard facts.
So, contrary to what you said, it seems that indeed you do need charts and tables to figure this out, because the impressions you have gathered about Canon's current EF lens prices are inaccurate.
