Another masterpiece from the King of the Aurora Borealis
Turn up the volume and enjoy this epic time lapse from the Arctic

After watching this I was so amazed of the work he have done here. I was with him on few of these locations. And it is difficult to get the rail and the camera adjusted and ready to shoot.
He is using 2x5DmkII and a few sequences with 1x5DmkIII
Lenses used is mainly Nikon 14-24 f/2.8, Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L, Samyang 14mm and 24mm.
The rails and controllers are from Dynamic Perception (2x rails)
So you can just imagine all the running he is doing when he shoots with 2 rails and one tripod mounted camera.
I find it best to stay away from all the action :)

Hope you enjoyed it

Helge
Summer is great :)

Pretty Awesome! I guess up there you better have 2 setups ready. DSO's which may be trumped by the AB. I'd be real happy either way. :D

That was very cool! The scenery is so picturesque there. would be nice to visit, although I would imagine it to be very cold.

Actually it is not that cold here where I live. Since this is by the coast and the ocean is ice free due to the gulfstream (external link)
But as soon as you move inland the temperature drops down to -25C/-13F while by the coast it hardly never drops below -12C/10F. The average temperature in the winter is -1C/30F so it's very mild.
If you compare my location to Alaska and NWT it's a huge different in climate. I have frozen more in NYC than here in February :)
So this winter the tourist industry have bloomed. On one Saturday eve I saw 4 big busses.
And even cruise ships starts to come here in the winter for the hunt for the Aurora.

So next winter it will be crowded. And we will have to climb higher or go to more distant areas.

Hello Helge,
Thanks for the reply and for correcting my error on your weather, 30 F isn't bad at all, although -13F is!! It does get cold here in New York, same affect being on the ocean, it keeps temps milder here than inland. This past winter, we probably averaged 45 F, it was very mild, no snow at all.

I did enjoy it. Thanks for linking it here. It starts slow, but a couple minutes in and wowzers. I've had his Vimeo main page as a video/timelapse bookmark for over a year now.

The sequence with the heavy snow covered trees where taken in Northern Finland.
The sequence with the threes with the long stem is from Northern Sweden. We had a 9 hour road trip...Got home at 8am and I was so tired
The rest is from Norway

If you come here in one month you can see the Midnight Sun ;)
Otherwise Mid-September until 1st week of April
