Great fun watching two coyotes hunt and eat at Ridgefield NWR today in the rain.

Find it...

Wonderful shots. We have coyotes near my house in Toronto as well, but I only see them when I'm walking my dog, so I've never gotten a shot.

Thanks Lykke - for the first time in quite a while I'm happy with the sharpness.

Rick_reno - thanks for looking. One did look small but the scruffy fur didn't help him any either. Perhaps they are shedding - one was a real mess.

Thanks for commenting Hugh - we have some coyotes right around the house but if we see them once a year it's surprising. These two were quietly hunting a field at the refuge. The car parked by the side of the road (you're not allowed out of the car in most of the refuge) didn't seem to bother them a whole bunch. And they were having a real feast.

Great shots! The second one is my favorite. I love shooting the coyotes at Ridgefield, they are so at ease around people and cars.

Thanks! I was amazed at how little activity there was out there yesterday. But the coyotes made up for it all.

Thanks Texasred. These two were in the field on that last long run back to the office. I went around twice and they were there on both trips. And you are right, they don't get all that nervous about us. I sat in the car with the window down letting them hunt back to me and they got quite close.

Great shots, coyote's hunt gophers just like cat's. Did he play with his prey a little before eating?

Thanks - they were pretty much catching and eating - and they were busy.
