I hadn't tried it before, but I had a wireless remote shutter release (Promaster code 1810) for my 60D. I just tried it with the G1X and it works fine.
I also bought on ebay one of the 3 blade flip lens caps for the G1X. That came in today and it seems to work very well, but it isn't as good a seal as a solid cap. I can't say that it feels very sturdy, but the blades open and close fine and I will take it with my on my upcoming trip to try out. I would suspect that any contact with the blades while they are open could damage their functionality. We'll see.
