What is the holy trinity for primes on crop?

On ff, 50/85/135 right?
So crop is what? I have a sigma 30 1.4 which i love... The 85 1.8 which is amazing...
Now what? I sold a canon 50 1.4, because it was to long inside and the 30 is basically the 50 but for crap.

I have a 50-135 2.8, so will see how much i enjoy 135?

Someone clue me in?

Well im an athiest, so im ok with that. What is a good Prime to round out my 30 and 85 or a croP then?

LOL, you're not the only one btw.

My 60/2.8 rounds out my trio for now along with my 30 and 85. But I can't help thinking lately that the Tokina 11-16/2.8 should have a say. At least until someone comes out with an EFS15/2.0.

It's not holy unless it's a L prime i m afraid. On crop it's said to be 24L, 50L and 85L...

Jen, you should buy whatever primes whose focal lengths you need.

Don't buy a 'holy trinity' just because of its name. The FF trinity is usually either the 35/85/135 or 24/50/135, but neither of the crop-equivalent sets may actually work for you. You say you're happy with the 30/1.4 and 85/1.8, which is fantastic. Will you enjoy the 135? It's hard for us to say for you, because we have no idea whether you like the 135mm FL on crop.

As you said yourself, you've got the 50-135, so shoot at 135 for awhile and ask yourself whether you like that FL. Don't just buy a 135 because it's an L or that it'll complete some sort of silly trinity.

Ya no, i was kinda joking. When i said holy trinity, i didnt even know it was set in stone. Lol I just thought it was the 3 most preferred primes, for a particular photog.

I think ill just have to stick with my dynamite duo of primes then! Ill play with the 50-135 and 12-24 I have coming, to see what ill like more. I think zooms are more my thing anyways because of the versatility. Dammit primes are sharp with killer bokeh though!

If you're willing to focus manually, ZE 2/25, ZE 2/50 MP and ZE 2/100 MP.

There's no point in getting faster lenses, the small pixels found in crop sensors can't accept light that enters through from a steep angle... so f/1.4 is of very limited - if any - value.

But.... sharpness really does count when you have small pixels and these are the sharpest lenses available for a DSLR.

Finally, you asked for three.... but you could also add the ZE 2.8/21 and the TS-E 17. If that doesn't flatten your bank balance, consider shifting to Leica

Crop: 24L/50L/85L
FF: 35L/85L/135L

That's what I had always read, anyway.

I'd vote:

Crop: 35, 50, 100

Full Frame: 50, 85, 135

For crop I always loved my dirty trinity: Sigma 30, Canon 85 1.8, Canon 200 2.8 L.

I love my 24,50,100 combo

I've got the first two on crop and love them.

Agree with the others. If it's not L, then it's not Holy.
