I love the shot, but my eye goes straight to the red stand and given how great the rest of the shot is, that is a let down. (Maybe you could get a model to hold up the bike, then you'd have something! Come to think of it, that is probably why the bike magazine have those models.. just to use as bike stands!)

yeah the baboon ass red stand. Not my favorite. I tried to put it in the corner as much as possible. I was going back and fourth on just making it black.

Lovely bike and track.

Few things I noticed though:

Maybe try to make the DoF match on the bike compared to the track. Also, the black levels between the bike and the track are a little far apart. The shadow could be a little darker.

If you tweak those, I think this could be a portfolio-worthy shot!

Or you could just desaturate it.
The bike itself doesn't look bad, but a more neutral CB that the rest of the shot would work better for me. Y/G chrome just isn't something I want to see?

That was part of the problem. Bike is shot with the 7D and the track is with the 5DII. 7d is at f9 track is at f11. The BG has a bit of camera shake too :(
Agreed on the blacks. I wanted the BG to be dramatic but then I started to clip the black on the bike when I was going through that. I couldnt make anything out.

I really really struggle with shadows. I tend to go lighter to not draw attention to it.

Thank you for your input. Thats exactly what I was looking for.

Hmmm never thought of desaturating  That would probably would have been the way to go on this. Thanks for the tip

I threw the YG in to match the WB. They are a bit off and dont match up really well. The track was shot at sunset and the bike in a studio. I am not a huge fan of it but it also covers up the Y/G chromatic abrasion

Some kit cars a light years better than the original in the way they drive, reliability and cost.
