LR4 renaming - file extension case

I played today with file renaming in Lightroom 4 and noticed that not only does LR rename the file, but automatically changes the file extension to upper case (.cr2 becomes .CR2). I would prefer to keep it lower case but did not find an option in the settings.

Does anybody know how to change this?

Thanks!

Thanks, at least I know I am not overlooking something.

I you look at the LR Import dialog , in the File Renaming panel at the upper right side (below File Handling) there is an Extensions option with a drop-down list where you can choose Lowercase, Uppercase, or Leave as-is (the default).

(.cr2 becomes .CR2).

In the case of CR2 (as opposed to tiff, tif, jpg, or jpeg) I don't think I have ever seen it written in lower case. Certainly not in any file I have obtained directly from any camera.

Just to add to my above post:

The Copy as DNG, Copy and Move functions allow you to change the extention case. The Add function does not. And, as far as I can see when you change filenames in the Library module (F2) you can't change the case.

I took a quick look and didnt see this. I have the file handling. But not a file renaming tab. Maybe I have it turned off somewhere in a control panel.

All my files get imported into LR after importing to my PC's hard drive using ImageIngester Pro and they all end up with upper case 'CR2' - It doesn't really matter though...

Yes, I do see the file handling tab in the import module - good to know. But I was only renaming, the photos were already imported.

Unfortunately it matters very much if extensions are upper or lower case.
Not on windows servers, but unix etc server make a strict difference between upper and lowe case extensions (and filenames). So uploading your file as x.JPG and have a x.jpg href in your html code, will give you a file not found. ;)

In the LR Export dialog you can set your extension to either Upper- or Lowercase, so yeah if you are going to be using Linux/Unix you want to pay attention!
