Looking for a bag for a 300 2.8 is

I looking for a bag to just mainly carry my 300 with a mkiv attached. I am looking a back pack style. What are you using and do you like them? I looked at the knesis and a couple of other brands but it looked like they were single shoulder straps versus a back pack style.

I haven't used one but the ThinkTank StreetWalker Pro might work for you. I have several other bags from them and I have been very happy with the quality.

The Kinesis is a modular system and the harness needs to be bought separately. I have an L511 with harness for my 300/2.8.

Good info. I hadn't thought about the thinktanks, but will have to look into those a little more. The knesis ones look pretty useful so I will have to look I to those too.

I am debating between the think tank streetwalker pro and the glass taxi. Anyone use either and any comments? I am trying to find the smallest bag that will fit the mkiv and 300 2.8 which looks to be the glass taxi, but the other one does look like it is too huge.

Wish I could help you out a little more with your choice but unfortunately I don't own any lenses big enough to need those bags. ThinkTank's customer service is great so you might want to give them a call and ask their opinion. I have talked to them before and they aren't what you are used to from other places......they are photographers themselves and shoot straight with you so I'm sure they would give you good advice.

I ended up going with the glass taxi and it is perfect. Not too big and not too small. I ended up calling their sales line to talk to them about sizes and they are really knowledgeable and also photographers. Would recommend and price was fair.

I have this for my 500mm F4, you cannot have the camera attached, but I only wanted something other then the safe case that comes with it.

I agree with the Think Tank suggestions.

The Glass Taxi is great if you don't mind having to fiddle with the hood every time you want to use it. It's also handy for travelling abroad as it can easily fit in my hold baggage while the gear is transported in something more substantial. However, I prefer the Lowepro AW600 - it can take the 300, with the hood in shooting position, attached to a 2xTC and a body. Unzip and you're ready to shoot. I use Lowepro Sliplock cases to carry extras like additional lenses, binoculars, food and drink, etc.

Back when I had this lens I was trying to find the same bag. I never found one but I think the Streetwalker Pro was close. Just couldn't fit the hood.

Love the Kinesis for my 500mm f/4L, and with all the attachment points I can go Al Fresco, or load it up with external pouches for my T-Cons, a second body, and a small wide angle. It comes with the shoulder strap, and takes a back pack harness. In fact it works with most any manufacturers harness. The harness I use was made by Tenba, left over from a camera bag I no longer use.

Highly recommend the Kinesis. One of it's biggest advantages IMHO happens to be it's light weight. It is significantly lighter than any other bag I have used.

Same as CDS...I love the Kinesis L311 with harness which is housing my 300+1D3. Great bag and light weight.
