Haven't been on POTN in a bit, but I have a few recent images I like, so I thought I would return and inflict them on the rest of you! ; ) These were all taken in my yard.

Excellent set! Are you sure the ants weren't communicating though? They appear to be of the same species, and they generally communicate by pheromones and mouth to mouth. I've always tried to get a shot like that in such detail but it's more difficult than it looks, so kudos!

Paul, thanks for the behavioral interpretation. I actually did not think they were fighting, but I did not know what else to call it. It did not seem aggressive. I suspect they were indeed communicating if that is how ants communicate. You learn something new every day :)
