I just retired from the University of California after 36+ years. The whole process which started about 18 months ago when I decided it was time has been filled with "issues" from Social Security to health insurance (we need socialized medicine in the USA) so I have been up to my a$$ in alligators and haven't posted much of anything.
So, here to begin making up for it are images from Here Come the Mummies, a brilliant group of superb musicians in fun outfits and lots of personality.
#1 The obligatory composite:
#2 They marched through the casino the long way ... here going through the slots floor.
#3 Fisheye from 'the pit' (we don't have a pit ... I just bullied my way to the front of the crowd in the dance floor area by begging that I was the house photographer and needed to get some shots.)
#4 This is the full image from the composite ... those people are solid right up to the stage where they completely engulfed the stage ... this was taken after the previous image and I had retreated from the throng to get my breath.
#5 A shot from just off the side of the stage ... in my eight years at the casino there have been a tiny handful of times that they have let the patrons be at the stage the whole concert (blocking me from my normally clean shooting alleys) but it was such a success they're talking more concerts of this style.
#6 A rare, for me, behind the stage shot. The tour manager said I could do whatever I wanted from the wings ... I was actually hidden by some of the staging gear.
#7 The quality of the musicianship was stunning ... every solo was spot on and full of energy and emotion ... these guys were simply great musicians and performers.
#8 He didn't fall, he was performing as part of the song ... you can see he's got a pick in his right hand.
It was one of the best concerts ever at the casino and on Friday the 13th no less. There are more in my gallery at my website at http://dwightmccann.com …t/TheMummies04132012.html
