I've tried a few non L series lenses but the 15-85 is the only one I've bought. I've never regretted buying it either. A really useful range and it has great IQ. Go for it.

Art that takes you there. http://www.artyman.co.uk

Totally agree. I just wish they had a little bit less zoom creep. Mine isn't too bad, and is worse pointing up than down. But I'd be happier if the zoom was a bit snugger. Mark

He said it was used but I couldn't tell it. It looked band new. still a lot to learn wrote in post #14302977 Nice pic Gawain. I am going back and forth on whether to buy the 15-85 or the sigma 17-70 but this thread is beginging to tip the scale toward the 15-85. It just seems to have such nice image quality and i do have a 35mm f2 for low light stuff. Do you mind if I ask you where you purchased it from? I have seen threads on here that say it should sell for around $700 but the places i see it are either around $800 or are places I have never heard of.

Apr 22, 2012 16:31 | #37 I haven't read through any of the previous comments in this post, but I can confidently say that selling my 15-85 has been my ONLY regretful sale. It truly is a very versatile lens that can be amazing even in low light with the addition of a flash later down the road. If low light is a major concern right now, then get a 50 1.8 in addition to this lens.
