Just a posting I found a bit humorous....I love the capitalized part about getting a plate of food.....almost makes it sound like their trying to hire a homeless person ;)

"We are a young couple in need of a photographer. We are have a end of October wedding with beautiful colors and scenery! 10/27/12
willing to take additional pictures ( at different location in wedding attire) for photographer if needed for personal portfolio.
We are looking to exchange photo copyrights to the photographer for exchange of photos on disc (dvd) editing is not necessary.
We are willing to pay gas if necessary.
If you are currently looking for experience in this field of wedding photography we are willing to let you use our wedding as a chance to wet your feet and put something in the books to show future clients as well as we will provide a phenominal reference for the work given.
PLUS YOU'LL GET A PLATE ON THE HOUSE :)
this is not a paying job
Thank you again.
Jen"

And it will be interesting to hear the outcome of the continuing saga...
Will it be

  • "(sobbing bride, years later) why was I so stupid to try to save money, and not hire an experienced and proven photographer, instead of a wedding rookie who didn't even know when the garter toss occurred (and missing the shot by sitting on the toilet reading the newspaper when it happened?)"
  • Or will it be "Good riddance to this!" (while bitterly throwing the wedding album into the fire)

no pay, i'd guess their expectations aren't real high.

this looks like a good opportunity for one of us that has spent his/her wad on gear and is now living in a cardboard under an overpass, at least they'll get a meal out of it.

At least you know it's not McDonald's, they don't use plates there... ;)

I love when people try and make themselves sound magnanimous with lines like "willing to exchange copyright for CD", like somehow they own our copyright, but they'll let us have it if we just give them a CD.:rolleyes:
It looks like these people are going to the extraordinary measure of providing free food too; and on a plate even! Wow! I'm so humbled by their gracious and giving nature, I may have to drive up there just for the free lunch. ;)

I think that's why I got a kick out of the posting.....in asking for a free wedding photographer, they are trying to make it sound as if they are the generous ones.

Wow, they expect newbies tfp/cd/dvd. I assume that there will be disappointment as the end result....or lawsuits expecting the cost of the wedding flying the photographer who takes this up....watch this space

Imagine being the poor unknowng sap photographer who doesn't know better...he has been granted 'copyright' which he already owns, but he does not explicitly have 'model release' which permits him to use the photos commercially to promote his own business of photography later. (OTOH he is not likely to be sued by B&G if they see their photos on his business web site, either; but they later could go after his butt in anger and disappointment, since there is no model release!)

Maybe their wedding budget is really really really low so they are offering this to GWC instead of Uncle Bob / Aunt Nancy :).

Are you sure the poor photographer would be fed? Because it says "PLUS YOU'LL GET A PLATE ON THE HOUSE". If they are as cheap as they sound, it's just an empty plate ;)

You mean we'd get to keep the plate!? SWEET! Will it have something printed on the paper, like dragons?
