I've shot Mr. Scaggs two or three times but this was the first time I have been restricted to the sound board FOH for three songs. I won't speculate on the motivation for putting photographers so far away that it is virtually impossible to capture the raw essence of a concert but it does greatly reduced the intensity.

#2 This is a good example of what the stage looked like from the soundboard which is about 90 feet away.

#5 Here's what emotion looks like from almost 100 feet away.

#6 And for those who complain that I don't have enough editorial variety in my images (which is likely true) here's something a bit different.

Rick, for years I was accused of being too sterile in my postings since I tend to be of the journalistic bent as a documentarian for the casino doing minimal adjustments, so I try to throw something interesting in now and then. :-)

Excellent series and I too like the abstract color image. Well done!

Last one is not for me :p

#4 is also edited "not so well" IMO.

Rest is okay for the circumstances. I like #3.

I agree in all cases ... it was a tricky shoot and I thought I'd try some non-photojournalistic experiments ... reminds me of why I generally don't venture into that arena.
