I know the Maxilite is a lot wider and the HP seems deeper.
I've seen the Fireball thread for the Maxilite
but very little of the High Performance Relector
Could someone describe the major differences between the two?
Thanks in advance!

I am in the same boat I would like to know. The guy from vancouver that shoots snowboarding has the high performance reflector.

Don't try to confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up.

These shots by, "tenoverthenose" are the only examples of the HP Reflector I could find
and they are all excellent. The third shot is absolutely gorgeous.
From this thread, post #5:

The Max has a light dispersion angle of 43 degrees and is 40 cm in diameter. The HP 48 degrees and it's 26 cm in diameter. The interior finish is slightly different with the HP being more polished for efficiency. Both are designed for sports photography.

That's the technical difference.

The guy who's raving about using the Max for people is just duplicating the old hard light techniques of a couple of decades ago before there were larger, softer lights. By feathering the light he's using the fall-off where the light isn't quite so harsh.

You could do the same thing with the HP if you wanted to.

Which will cause more specular highlights and a higher efficiency, but the difference is subtle.

True, it is different. But it is worth mentioning. :)
