I am curious has anyone use Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6 DG HSM II on a 1D3/IV. What is your experience with it? Would you recommend that lens?

I had it (the mark i) on my mkiv for a little while and just was never really happy with it. it wasn't very sharp and I wasn't fond of the color rendition (although that can usually be corrected in pp). The new version I have heard is slightly better, but introduces moustache' distortion which is harder to correct and it is pretty pricey.
