Thought I would try branching out away from the mainstream sports today. My next shoot is probably going to be dirt bikes and quads.
C&C gladly welcomed.

Enjoy!

focus and lighting seem to bee on point but everything else is a bit off. First critique would be that they are too tight and you should step back a bit show where the skater is coming from and where they are going (takeoff and landing) and Secondly the timing is a bit off on some of them but that's tough just look in a skate magazine or websites and look at where they time shots
keep shooting!

Thanks, critiques appreciated. I'll try to work on it.

It's nice to see skate shots that were taken not using a fish-eye. :)

I have been shooting quite a bit at the local skate park. The guys there really like to see take-off and landing positions. And they hate looking at photos where they didn't land the trick. Besides the over-exposures on a couple of these -they look pretty good though. I do like fish-eye looks and the boarders like them as well, so don't shy away from one if you have it. 1 and 5 are my favs. Try to get some from below - those are really cool to see under the board. I always ask what trick they are doing so I can write it down accurately.

I think they look pretty good!! My son is 7, and he loves to skateboard. But, I don't shoot him much, because he's just learning, and can't do many tricks yet. It gets boring shooting him just riding and going down ramps. LOL All I've really taken are just snapshots. I hate to get in they way at the park, trying to get really good ones. Who wants an old Mom getting in their way?? LOL

Here are a few of my son Skating. But like I said, I just consider them snapshots. (taken with my Canon Rebel XSi)

Now that I think about it, I think that last one was taken with my point and shoot.........it was new, and I was messing around with it.

Im looking to shoot some action at the local skate park, but not too sure how to approach the riders, maybe just hang out a little before jumping right in? BTW last time i skated was in the 80s :)
