So I will be living in South Africa for a year at Kruger National Park. I need a new body. The majority of my shooting will be big game, with the fewer but frequent landscapes. I was wondering which would be better, the 7d, or the 5dIII.
My current lens line-up is not an issue since I have 10 months to replace/purchase new lenses. My longest lens will be 400mm.
My concern is whether or not the FPS is an issue between the two, and whether the crop factor should be a major deciding factor (I will assume that AF systems are not a concern, nearly being equal to each other). I will NOT be going on vehicle safaris the majority of the time, but living in the bush for three months and then interning with a safari company for the remainder of my stay. Most shooting will be done from the ground without a vehicle.
Basic questions:
- Should I be concerned with crop factor (max FL is 400mm)
- Should I be concerned with the FPS difference?
- Video will be important, but not as much as stills.
- AF will not be a deciding factor.
EDIT: This is not a 'photography first' trip. If that has any relevance.
Thanks in advance,
Evan
