With where the hand is positioned, it looks like there is a connection to "Stewart". I infer this because that's where the fingertips are.

I think this might be more powerful if the palm of the hand was lifted off the surface and the fingertips were shown "caressing" or tracing/touching the letters of only one name. Anyone else have comments on this suggestion?

Thanks for sharing.

dave

I'm guessing this was a candid shot, if that is the case I think it's very moving.

I agree, the shoulder bag kind of distracts a lot

Thanks for the comments guys...It was a candid so I didn't really have much control on positioning and so on, although I wish I did. I wish the lady had her bag on her other arm, but what can you do

Could just be simply that I'm an American, but the it gave me goosebumps. I didn't notice the handbag until my mind went back into "critique mode". I'd say that signifies a powerful image that overrides any technical faults. The only thing I'd do to make it more visually appealing would be crop into something close to a 16:9 ratio to remove most of the jean pocket and top stripe on the handbag.

Would love to see some of your other pics from that day. I grew up in NY and CT, but have since moved to NC in 2009. I'm moving back home in a couple months and visiting the memorial is definitely on my to-do list.
