I'm hoping someone here has experience with this device. I recently picked it up from Amazon and am having some difficulty getting the wireless connection to be stable. In fact I seem to have only gotten it to work a few times. I connect the receiver to my camera, turn it and the camera, then turn on the transmitter. I am able to control a shot or run a timer program. Then I attach the camera to my tripod, go outside, frame the shot, and nothing happens when I try to take the shot or send the program to the receiver.

Has anyone run into this issue? Any ideas on what I may be able to do to resolve the issue? Sadly, I lost two nights of great skies before this rain moved in.

This is what I bought:

I am hoping I can fix it this week and not have to send it back for a replacement.

Thanks.

Dear people from the future, after discovering my eyepiece from the same Amazon order was shattered, I included the remote in my return and picked up a new unit. The problem was a defective unit not transmitting wirelessly. The new unit arrived today and is working fine.

A mere 4 weeks later.. and no, I haven't ordered it (yet), but I was curious as to some user experiences.

Planning to get one of these for my 10 stops ND stuff and maybe some 30 seconds exposures for startrails (inverted interval meter).

I read on the pixel website that in delay it does only 99 shots, is that correct? Or can I also set it to delay + continuous?

Some of my lenses focus beyond infinity...!

They are cheap. I have gone through 3 of those units now, each with a different defect. So I picked up a "Satechi WTR-A Wireless Timer Remote Control Shutter" which is also cheap. This one seems to work ok, except for the fact that wirelessly the intervalometer just stops actuating the shutter after like 5 intervals. I have it going on Polaris right now wired, but it looks like this is going to be a fourth unit sent back to Amazon. What I also don't like about the Satechi vs the Pixel... the Pixel transmits the program at the start to the unit which is plugged into your camera. So you can walk anywhere. The Satechi transmits every actuation so it must always be in range.

I think basically, you just gotta pick one up and see if it works. Buy from some place with a good return policy because it's a roll of the dice. It is very frustrating that it is taking months to find a wireless timer remote that works completely.

If I remember correctly, the Pixel is like the Satechi, it has an upper bound for programmable actuations, (399 for the Satechi, if the documentation says 99 for Pixel, it's probably right), but they also have an infinite setting. So it'll do your exposure+interval until you stop it or a battery dies.
