...so you don't have to feel shy to comment ;) These were taken with the Sigma 105 rather than the Bigma.

These were taken from a very precariously balanced ladder (sorry about the composition Brian).

What was interesting is that it walked around on the branch, but it walks backwards - making my position even more precarious!

Yup definately a lot better :) Don't think the Bigma is built for macro shots.
Lovely patterning on the wing covers.

Super camouflage, you must have good eyes to see that in the first place.

Thanks Brian. Yip, agree the Bigma is not the way to go with bugs - especially at night ;)

Thanks Andy. You don't need eyes for these blighters, they burn your ears off. I found out where they were last night, and they've hardly moved since then. In the second pic it was actually screaming away with me less than 10cm from it - not good for the eardrums!

good shots, they look like they blend well into their surroundings, I suggest you might have to invest in some ear muffs if you want to keep your hearing.

Thanks - now that I know what to look for, their camo is no longer that effective ;)

Thanks BE. They were probably singing to try and make the photographer fall out the tree :D At least they didn't try and knock my cap off (coz I wasn't wearing one  )

Thanks Marie! I'm not sure he was too happy - probably because I didn't blend in at all :D

Thanks! Funnily enough, we call them cicadas here too  :D

Seriously though, they've hardly moved since Thursday when I first heard them, and they're screaming their heads (butts?) off now.
