Anyone here have any experience with this? I was asked by one of my realtor customers whether I have any photos of TPC Sawgrass, which I do not. He is interested in hiring me to provide him with some photos of the course (not during a/the tournament). I've got to look into getting permission (obviously) from the course but was wondering if anyone has run into any issues selling photos of a private golf course. I'm assuming I'd need to get permission from Sawgrass and wonder how likely that is.

Thanks.

Does the realtor have any sort of a business relationship with them or even a legitimate business reason to want images of Sawgrass?

If TPC Sawgrass has any interest in allowing the realtor to use photos of the course, it's extremely likely that they would provide (for a fee) the photos.

I would be surprised if you did not run into problems getting permission from TPC....

I figured that but I'd rather they NOT go there and get them for free... :D

That's why I'm asking others who may have done this in the past. I've got some feelers out to people I know who work for the PGA or LPGA to see if they may be able to lend a hand but I don't know that they'd be able to help much since it's a private course. I'm just hoping they'll know the right person for me to speak with.

Sawgrass is owned by the PGA (the headquarters are there) and is not private, but a daily fee resort course. Some of the TPC courses have private memberships, just not that one.

Hopefully your contacts have some pull, but it will be interesting to see if they can get you around the rules. Your best bet to be able to shoot would be to have the client play the course with you as his photographer. There might be some leeway in shooting him with the course in the background

Thanks. I hadn't known the course was owned by the PGA although I know the PGA is HQed there (I live about 15 minutes from there).

I'm waiting to see what my contacts can come up with. We'll see how it goes...

I work at a GC as a Asst Pro and I know we have had photographers out before, but they have all had personal relationships with an employee/head pro here. If it was a privately owned course you might have better luck than a TPC course... Just a matter of talking to the right people for authorization

I said "for a fee", not "for free".

Taking the photos isn't the problem here. Getting permission to use the photos in any commercial context will be your problem.

I sort of figured this is the case. I'm working on it. :)

Sorry, posting first thing in the morning...

Well, there are 2 issues...getting access to shoot and getting permission to use the photos for commercial use. I understand that. Just wondering if anyone else has tried to do this before and how they handled it.
