All these talks are killing me :(... missing shots b/c of slow AF on 5d2 is also killing me :(. I guess, I need to get more works and save up :).

BTW, Congrats Bryan!

Thank you very much Kev. I am excited about the new AF (of course) but also dual card slots. That is important to me.

Not getting a 5d3. Getting a D800 instead.

happy shooting 5D2s over here. My income has been healthily flowing in from past 5D2 use. No reason to change a system that has been working just fine. I played with the 5D3 at the store. The reduced shutter sound was attractive, so was the dual card slots and improved high ISO (not a necessity). The card slots were about all that enticed me from a security stand-point. Four thousand is still a good chunk of money for a single desired feature, and being a new home owner of one year I have more important needs with my money.

I will likely get the new next high megapixel camera Canon releases as it is a feature that I can use to upgrade the quality of my products.

If you don't need, it, you don't need it.
I've always liked having great focusing cameras, so while I did get used to shooting with the 5D2, it always had me wanting more. Now that I have it, I am completely happy.

Nick is there any settings you have changed in the menu system for the tracking in servo mode?

I took the 5d3 plunge. It is everything I have ever wanted in a wedding camera. As soon as Crutchfield gets more in, I'll be adding a second one. Seriously, I love this camera.

But as much as I love it, the real game changer for me are the new 600ex-rt's. They are so freaking easy to use and reliable, that I will be using ocf in a lot more situations where I would only use on-camera flash in the past. Canon really came through this cycle!

I have no complaints with my 5D2s
I have been wanting to get a 3rd body and had been thinking of a 1D3 but when the 5D3 specs were announced I've been considering that one - but will be too busy to get one until October

NO

The new 1Dx will be $6800.00. I got to play with one at WPPI. They would not let you put your card in the camera. I switched it to RAW at 12800 iso and went all the way into the file to look..........looks like 800 iso on a 40D. Jpeg format,,25ooo ISO was clean and usable. The camera is extremely fast and clean and puts out perfect 18MP files. The AF system will not miss and the IQ of the files were stunning. For me ISO performance and IQ are everything along with a great AF system....this thing blew me away...has it all. No need to worry about white balance on the 1Dx either. Auto WB looked perfect to my eyes

After we got the 1DMKIII we were looking into getting a 1DsMKIII for full frame needs. It was $7400.00 for a new one so it had to go into the 2013 budget. The 1Dx, At $6800.00 if you can afford it, its the best you can buy and it totally blows away the current 1DsMKIII full frame version. I mean totally blows it away at low and high iso results.

When the 5D3 came out, i was pleasantly surprised at how close it was to the current 1DMKIV files. So we made the decision to drop the 1Dx from my drool list and go with the 5D3. If i had $$$ to blow or could justify the costs for the upgrade, i would be all over it. This 5D3 is very very good, so im glad we went the way we went. But make no mistake, the 1Dx will put the 5D3 to bed........Its that good

Mike, I gotta think though if the 1DX is that good, there would be some stuff out there no? Why are they being so secret about things? What's the holdup?

I think the only setting I might have changed for AF is to set it for release priority. The other stuff, like the tracking options and speed are defaults.

Yup. I am eventually going to get 2 more of these for OCF as well. Really nice!
