Forget to mention. I did not purchase the base plate from camdapter. I use RRS plates and they work perfectly.

I haven't seen anything but a few samples, mostly if not all from Canon. Of the ones I've seen, it looked like LOTS of in-camera NR was applied. So similar to what we saw on the 5D3 before it was released. I wouldn't get my hopes up. My guess is 1/2 stop over the 5D3. I'd be happy if I am wrong of course. You're mostly likely correct about that half stop. Canon knows how to take truth and stretch it to the very limit. digital paradise wrote in post #14342920 Me neither. Having easy access to the shutter button in the portrait orientation is appealing but whenever I handle a camera with a grip I just can't get used to that feel. As megapickles keep going up, sensor tech and NR improves I read some photographers don't even bother shooting in portrait mode. Just crop later. Not sure I could do that. I've been shooting with grips and have just felt I just needed them. Maybe more out of habit. I'm also new to compact primes so I feel I've come to a new season of shooting in which compact (grip-less) may have a new place with my shooting style. I would likely still shoot in portrait orientation as I think cropping later is just another step. We do, after all, shoot full frame because we desire everything that the fullness of the frame gives us. helloagain36 wrote in post #14342968 I do however miss being able to use a hand strap. I don't like using a neck strap and the added feeling of security from the hand strap was nice. I tried the hand strap for a while. I found that it was an extra step just to fit my hand in as I was putting the camera aside and going back to it again quite frequently. I believe I had one moment where I nearly dropped the camera from fumbling on the strap and I vowed to remove it forever. I currently use a non-strapped 5D2 and a shoulder strapped 5D2 (black rapid) so that I can swiftly alternate between focal ranges. (I set the camera in my messenger bag when going to the strapped cam) I think the last time I used a neck strap was in the mid-90's. HATE 'em. jonathan @ tlcphoto.com

Canon knows how to take truth and stretch it to the very limit. This may sound ignorant, but I was under the presumption that in-cam NR was applied to JPEG only. Being that I only shoot RAW, I assumed that ICNR didn't apply to my files. Yeah, the ones I was referring to were JPEGs I believe. Are there any high ISO RAW files out in the wild yet?
