may have gone overboard.

Anytime you can work to bring out the color in the sky it always tends to make for a must more intriguing shot.

I am one of many photographers in Pittsburgh PA (external link) who loves to explore my craft and learn from others while doing so. my biggest passion is shooting goth pics (external link) and material of a darker nature.

Before is SOOC with all LR sliders at zero. No sharpening or NR applied. Adobe Std with a medium contrast curve. The after processed in both LR4.1 & PSCS5.

Thanks! It's actually simpler than it looks. Because the lines of the plane are so crisp, using the quick selector was easy. A little tweak in the refine window and the entire background was removed. I then put one of my summer sunset pics behind it and applied a mild gradient over the plane to get some of the sky colors onto the plane.

I normally don't do complicated pixelbending and editing, but when it comes to architecture, and you're too poor to get a tilt shift...

Before:

Epic battle in my mind of whether to focus more on portraiture or architecture. #FirstWorldProblems

Nice job Rachel! I have to ask though if the bulb was not a product of more than the 'before' photo. I can see the filament in the reworked image which is not showing in the other.

I'm assuming she used a torch to light the bulb hence the visible filament. Torch then masked out. I could be wrong, it has been known :)

Edit: or would that be a composite image as opposed to a manipulated image?

You're right. I used the before photo and then a stock image of a filament - very light. The cracks were overlaid as well. Thanks!

No, the bulb was white. I painted in the light and color. So yes, in a way you could classify it as a composite. ;)
