I saw this thread the other day and thought it would be worth a shot. So I pulled out an image of my boss giving us a 'smoke show' from last winter did the things I learned in a Creative Live seminar and came up with this... fee free to deliver harsh criticism

Thanks!

Took 7 bracketed shots, converted them to TIFF then used photomatix to tone map them. Put the tonemapped image into photoshop and blended with various bits of the original TIFFs and lots of adjustment layers and masks....

Just an incredible result.
Thanks for the reply.
Myron

CameraBuff, nice work! Was it all done with Lightroom? If so it would definitely qualify for posting in the RAW Conversion Thread! (Read the intro, you want to post the Raw processing specifics or a screen shot of your Lightroom edits)!

One I took of my mate's car.

The sky was in the original photo, just didn't show up without some editing and blending with bracketed versions of the same shot.

Thanks but this one does not qualify as I did a levels and curves adjustment in cs5 also.

I made a thread but I guess it belongs here instead.

I shot this for my stores 50th anniversary photo contest, hence the text. I had everyone hold up 5's and 0's to signify it and went with a super theme. Nothing was stated in the rules against photo manipulation :D I brought in a softbox that is on the left, I had planned on some separation light behind but the space didn't quit allow for it, and I had a reflector off to the right side which did a little to balance the shadows on the right side. I shot it on a tripod w/a timer (I'm cyclops lol) w/my 10-22. Here is the SOOC pre-edit histogram

These are JPEGS, I took the photo in 2010 in Vietnam. I've only just edited this now, I was never no good at photoshop (I use PS CS3) but I like to think I've come leaps and bounds since I first tried!

Needless to say I'm happy with the result.

I've never done this before but I decided to duplicate the photo and use 3 layers, I over-exposed one, made the other contrasty and kept the original as the background. I set the opacity to 35% on both front images and this is the end result.

The weather was utter crap on the day, and I under-exposed the photo on purpose (I was shooting at f/13 to get the whole helicopter in focus - it's a rare beast.), however I under-exposed it a bit to much, but I didn't find this out until I got home to the UK, 2 months later and put it on my laptop...
