So after driving around the local highways hoping to find an active beaver lodge to photograph (with no luck), I decide to visit a little trail I know that leads to an old floating dock. The dock is still used on occasion for mooring float planes but I figured I'd sit and try to get some duck shots.
Till I got to the dock and saw this...

I could distinctly hear lots of chewing going on inside the dock. The logs and sticks that were poking out the sides would occasionally be pulled in and rearranged. Within a few minutes I had company...

Hopefully I'll be able to get back there soon, I'd like to get some out of water shots as well.
Thanks for looking...
Mike

Good for you, Mike; nice shots. I have nothing against the beaver tribe in general, but around home if I see them, it's usually through a rifle scope. They have cost me a lot of trees over the years.

I'm sure in similar circumstances I might feel the same. As things are, though, I've spent so many enjoyable hours observing different family groups since moving up north that I can't help but feel a certain affection for them. If this family keeps "constructing" at this dock, however, I don't see a happy ending in this case. There were at least two adults, two yearlings, and possibly kits in the lodge...

Wonderful shots! Been watching a dam and hut near my hunting lease but the beavers never come out with enough light to get a good picture. I hope when I get my chance I get shots as great as yours.
